Shariah Advisor

Pakistan Reinsurance Company Limited (PRCL) is seeking a qualified Shariah Advisor to provide expert guidance regarding Re-Takaful operations, investments, contracts, policies and Shariah compliance.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill one of the following educational routes:

Qualification Route 1

• Shahadat-ul-Aalamiyyah degree (Darse-Nizami) from a recognized Board of Madaris.
• Bachelor’s degree recognized by HEC with at least 2nd Class.
• At least 4 years of experience in issuing Shariah rulings in Fiqh-ul-Muamulat, including the period of Takhasus fil Ifta.
• Adequate knowledge of Islamic finance and Takaful/Re-Takaful.

Qualification Route 2

• Post-Graduate degree in Islamic Jurisprudence, Usooluddin or LL.M (Shariah).
• Suitable certificate of Takaful.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Shariah Advisor in the Takaful industry.
• Proficiency in English is required.
• Knowledge of applicable Pakistani laws is essential.
• Experience teaching Islamic finance at a reputable educational institution will be preferred.
• Candidates holding an M.Phil. or Ph.D. in Islamic Finance may also receive preference.

Key Responsibilities

The selected Shariah Advisor will be responsible for:

• Providing expert advice on Re-Takaful policies and services.
• Ensuring that Re-Takaful operations, investments, contracts and agreements comply with Shariah principles.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable SECP rules, regulations, guidelines, rulings and decisions relating to Takaful/Re-Takaful.
• Assisting in developing and implementing Shariah-compliant Re-Takaful policies and procedures.
• Providing technical Shariah guidance regarding facultative and treaty Re-Takaful policies.
• Conducting training and educational sessions for company officers and officials.
• Performing duties prescribed under the Takaful Rules, 2012.
• Carrying out other assignments approved or assigned by the CEO or Board.

Terms & Conditions

• The appointment will initially be for two years.
• The contract may be extended subject to satisfactory performance, company requirements, mutual agreement and approval of the Board of Directors.
• The selected advisor will receive a fixed monthly consultancy/advisory fee after applicable taxes.
• The fee will be mutually decided during the interview based on relevant and verifiable experience.
• The selected advisor will report to the CEO or an officer authorized by the CEO.
• The position may require travel within or outside Pakistan with prior approval.
• The maximum age is 55 years as of the closing date.

• Selection will be made on merit according to the prescribed criteria and interview performance.
